But at that age, I was so unbearably shy it was too easy just to stay in the circles I knew. Easy to say after the fact, right? But, I won't be able to go to the reunion because of a problem with my back - I can't stand or sit for very long - including at the computer. Anyway, I am really glad to hear from you and others. My wife, Becky, and I live in Coppell, TX, near Dallas. Becky and I met at LA Tech where I majored in electrical engineering. We moved to the DFW area in 1969 and have been here since. Becky was attending Southwestern Medical School, and I had a job at General Dynamics. I am now retired from Abbott Laboratories where I worked in R&D for medical instruments. Becky is practicing pediatrics with Cooks Children's Hospital of Fort Worth. In 1980-84, I took time out for more school, and part-time teaching electronics at the University of Texas at Arlington. At the same time I was busy and having fun coaching my son's soccer team. We spent almost all our vacation time from '73 to '99 going to Colorado to camp, snow ski, and mountain bike with water skiing in Texas in the summer. Now, only Becky still manages some skiing. We have one son, Ray, who lives with his wife Leigh, son, and new baby girl just down the street. Of course, we really like having them so close. Ray is an attorney in Dallas, Leigh taught 3rd grade, but now she is being a full-time mom. We attend Valley Ranch Baptist Church."

They have, thus far, provided us with five grandchildren, three boys and two girls. I graduated from LA Tech in 1969 with a major in accounting; took a 20-year detour in the Army; then began practicing public accounting in 1971. Over the years, I've earned the designations Certified Public Accountant, Personal Financial Specialist, and Certified Financial Planner. I formed my own firm in Shreveport in 1977, sold my practice in 1997 and we moved to Colorado. Bought land and horses in Colorado and opened an accounting and financial planning practice in the small mountain community in which we reside. We have one daughter, her husband and two grandsons in the same little town as us; another daughter, her husband and another grandson nearby in Breckenridge, and we're working on getting our youngest daughter, her husband and our two granddaughters to Colorado. Life's been good, and we're looking forward to more (life that is)!"
2009 - "My wife Donna graduated from Byrd in 1964. We married in 1968, so we celebrated our 40th anniversary this year! We relocated from Shreveport to Pagosa Springs, CO in 1997 when I sold my accounting practice there. We've established another flourishing practice here and plan to continue working for several more years, though hopefully on a reduced schedule. Two of our three daughters live in Pagosa also, with their husbunds and 6 sons (3 each)! Our youngest daughter and her husband live in Springdale, AR and have produced our only two granddaughters. We live on a 46 acre ranch which boundries the National Forest on two sides. We share our property with 3 horses, a couple of barn cats, and, as frequently as possible, our eight grandchildren! We look forward to seeing everyone in October!"
2014 Update: Just to bring everyone up to date since my 2009 review, we still live in "paradise," a/k/a Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and are still practicing accounting though my firm is much larger than in 2009 with more than a dozen employees including 6 CPAs. We also maintain an office in Shreveport. I figure if I practice long enough, I'll get the hang of it eventually!
We still have one daughter, her husband and their now 4 sons here in Pagosa Springs. The other daughter, who lived in Pagosa in 2009, her husband and their family (3 sons) have relocated from Pagosa to Roanoke, Texas. Finally, our youngest daughter, husband and family (2 daughters and 1 son) are now living in Savannah, Georgia. That's right, 10 grandkids!
We travel a lot both for work and pleasure. We still enjoy our ranch, horses, dogs, cats, and, of course, our grandchildren.

2014 Update: Immediately after graduation I went to Business School and then went to work for South Central Bell Telephone in Business Office Management. During this time I married and had my only child Brad who was born with spina bifida - he is now 46 years old. I was divorced in 1969. In 1976 I was promoted to the State Staff of Bell and moved to Baton Rouge Louisiana. I met Bob, my husband in 1977 at an AT&T meeting where we were both representing our companies. Bob worked for Bell of Pa. We married in 1978 and I moved to Media Pa (outside of Philadelphia) where I have enjoyed 36 years of marriage and many blessings. Combined we have 4 sons, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
I worked about a year in Philadelphia and then left to pursue a degree in the Medical Field, particularly in Business Management since I already had taken mgmt courses at LSU-S. I retired in 2010 from Mainline Health System where I was the Director of the Nutrition and Weight Center.
We love to travel; our favorite trips are by riverboat in Europe. We are very active in our Church (Presbyterian) where I am an ordained Elder.
Regretfully, we will not be attending the 50th reunion. We were looking forward to it, but a broken hip earlier this year will prevent me from taking a long trip. I am however, providing my bio for updating the website and also if you put out a book about the reunion. If you do, I would like to purchase one. I have really enjoyed reconnecting with classmates on Facebook and regret not being able to see them again. I hope the reunion is wonderful; it looks like it will be!
