2009 - "Although I moved my junior year, my best friends and high school memories will always be with the WHS Class of '64."
Martinez, Sharon Theresa - Missing Soul
2014 Update: I regret not having attended the past several class reunions but hope I can join you for the upcoming 50th. Wow! How do I fill in the blanks of my past fifty years? I suppose graduation would be an appropriate beginning. Following graduation, I partied (not studied) for a year at La Tech and then served in the Air Force for the next four years. Upon my discharge, I studied (not partied) and earned my BA degree from Northeast Univ in Monroe. Partly because of my security work in the Air Force, I went to work for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office as a criminal investigator for twelve years before be recruited by State Farm Insurance to become a commercial account underwriter in the Monroe Regional Office. I worked with State Farm for the next 29 years before being able to enjoy retirement several years ago. I have a daughter, Michelle Dianne Mason who is an emergency room RN and a 10 year old grandson, Cody Mason Blackmon. They live in Birmingham and one of my pleasures is visiting with them. My wife Marty, who is also retired from State Farm, and I live in an older home in the Garden District area of Monroe near Forsythe Park. I still enjoy working in my yard and playing my Fender electric bass guitar along with some Bluegrass music CD's.
I recently came across our Class of '64 website, which is an absolute joy to view, and after seeing all the great pictures, I must say the it appears all the guys are still having fun and the girls, I mean ladies, are all still as lovely as ever. My email address info is listed with my name, address, etc. and if any of you still remember me, it would be so nice to hear from you and learn what you have been doing for the past fifty years.

2014 Update: I did secretarial/accounting work until 1975, when my husband, daughter and I moved to our country property. After that, I just raised my daughter and enjoyed life. We traveled to Canada often and to Poland in 1976. For about 15 years, I bred Yorkshire Terriers. I also began painting as a hobby. I did an oil portrait of my daughter in 1985. Charles Vaughan and I married in 1987 and have spent the last 24 years in Grand Prairie, TX raising our blended family of three daughters and a son and then transitioning to empty nesters. I retired from a corporate library in 2002 but after a few months realized I wasn't ready for the rocking chair so went to work at a college library and am still there after 8 years. Life is so good! We love grandparenting, our Austin is 9 and Emily is 6 and they spend lots of time with Grandma and Grandpa. Dancing (especially swing), traveling (anywhere, anytime, we love adventure!), and running (Charles)/walking (Susan) are our spare time fillers, along with church (Episcopal). And I love telling our family stories through scrapbooking. Recently I have come to appreciate Shreveport and those innocent days of growing up there in a way I never did when I was younger. Has it really been 45+ years since we were all at WHS?? Hard to believe...
2014 Update: Charles and I are still living in our south Grand Prairie home where we have been since 1987 and we are still enjoying dancing and traveling as much as ever. I’ve added bicycling to my list of favorite things but haven’t been able to persuade Charles that it’s fun! (Oh, those happy memories of bicycling all over Southern Hills!) Our precious grandchildren are now tweens and teens so no more little ones around. Charles has retired and I’m still working at a university library but retirement does loom in the not-too-distant future. And what have I learned since leaving WHS some fifty years ago? That every single day is a gift and that time is not to be taken for granted so live with heart, have lots of fun, always choose kindness, and take really, really good care of family and friends (including the four-legged ones!)

Although I enjoyed my career, it is wonderful to have leisure time to travel, visit with family and friends, and to linger over my morning coffee."
2014 Update: Seems like yesterday I was in college, then marrying, teaching, more college, work, enjoying raising children.
