Galloway Hicks, Barbara - Missing Soul

Gammil LeDoux, Connie (Rogers)  - 2546 Grand Prairie Hwy., Washington, LA 70589; 337/ 826-7141 or (cell) 337/290-2847

2009 - Connie attended Kilgore Jr. College and was a Rangerette from 1964-1966.  She graduated from Nortwestern State with a B.S. in Business Administration and in Business Education.  Her husband Rogers also received his B.S. in Education from Northwestern.  They both received Masters degrees from LSU.  Connie and Rogers both taught 30 and 40 years, respectively, and are now both retired.  They enjoy traveling.

2014 Update: What I have been doing…
Kilgore Junior College, Kilgore, TX – Rangerette 1964-65 and 1965-66; Northwestern State, Natchitoches, LA – Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Business Education; LSU, Baton Rouge, LA – Masters of Education.

Married 44 years, two sons. Both my husband and I taught in secondary schools in St. Landry Parish; husband taught for 40 years and I taught for 30 years. We enjoy traveling (Bahamas, Jamaica, Ocho Rios, Cozumel, Belize, Isla Roatan), snorkeling, kayaking, scuba, swimming and fishing. Our next trip – Turks & Caicos.

Grandchildren: Emma (16), Sydni (10) and Logan (8).

2019 Update:  Our oldest son, Brian, remarried in 2016, and we are blessed with our new daughter-in-law, Tina, and new step-grandson. We travel often with them to Toledo Bend Lake, Chicot State Park, and the gulf coast. We all enjoy cruising. Brian's daughter, Emma, and Tina's son, Kenneth, will both be "Rajun' Cajuns" at ULL next fall. Our youngest son, Steve, now works for Halliburton and his wife, Holly, graduates in May 2019 as an RN from LSU-E. Their children are Sydni, a girl who will be 15 in July, and Logan who is 13. No great grandchildren. We have been so blessed with good health in our small family.

We enjoy fishing, swimming, kayaking, and gardening. Like so many in our age group, we spend a lot of time caring for Rogers's 92-year-old mom who is now in a nursing home in Opelousas after the one she was in in Baton Rouge was evacuated in the 2016 flood. My Cajun husband has spent almost 50 years now of marriage fulfilling his promise as head chef and now both sons continue that tradition of excellent Cajun cooking.

We spent a week on Carnival cruising in the gulf in 2018 for Mardi Gras and Valentines Day with the family. Enjoyed Thanksgiving week in 2018 with family in Orange Beach. We are planning an Alaskan cruise in 2020 to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and plan to travel with our oldest son, Brian, and wife, Tina.

Things for us have been a little hectic lately. More recently, my sweet husband had cataract surgeries. This was in the last week of February and first week of March. At the time Rogers was in the hospital for his second eye surgery, we lost a very dear friend and another friend fell and broke her hip (she was having hip replacement the same day.) Our new daughter-in-law injured her back and is probably going to have back surgery. Also the care for Rogers (making sure he gets all the eyedrops in on time) and my extra trips to check on his mom who is 92 and living at the nursing home have kept me busy. Like the Cajuns say, "C'est la vie."

We are really hoping to make the reunion. I truly believe my husband enjoyed the 50th more than I did. He so enjoys meeting new people. I just wanted to take this opportunity to personally thank you for all the hard work you've done through all these years trying to keep our class connected. You have done a fantastic job.

My high school plans never included "teaching" as a career. Life has an odd way of changing our plans. I taught secondary (high) school for 30 years and my husband taught for 40 years. In all that time we both have never known high school reunions to even come close to the perfection the reunion planning committee has managed. When Rogers discusses our WHS class reunions with family and friends, they truly seem surprised and in awe and are envious of how wonderfully organized and entertaining they are. It's all thanks to the committee. I applaud you all and thank you again for all the hours, days, and weeks you've worked to make these events special.

I have two children, Michelle (36) and Denise (31). Denise and her husband, Ian, have my only grandchild - Christian, age 7, who is the love of my life. Michelle is engaged to be married in the spring and plans on having two children by age 40 - looks like she'll have to hurry. My ex-husband and I divorced after a 19-year marriage. I am an awesome mother, I love my children very much, and I work on a relationship with both of them! I remarried a second time after being single for 3-1/2 years and the marriage lasted for seven years. I can't say it was a mistake because I learned my lessons well. I remained single for a long time and got to know myself very well and worked on relationship skills. I was determined to have a successful relationship and find the right partner/life mate when I was ready. Joey McQuaig and I found each other three years ago and have been married for two years. He is from Waycross, GA, had been divorced for over 10 years and has three grown married children and five grandchildren. Joey is a business broker dealing in real estate, appraisals and small business consulting. He works out of our home a lot, but has business ventures in the Atlanta area that put him on the road several days a week. He enjoys his work very much. Joey and I attend Eatonton First United Methodist Church. I've been there since I came to Eatonton. I love my church and my church family. I was a stay-at-home Mom for many, many years - I am so thankful for that opportunity. I taught preschool for eight years and after my first divorce, I also worked for an attorney and became a certified aerobics instructor for eight years. I have worked for Farmers & Merchants Bank for the last 20 years as the Marketing Director. I am very happy working at my job at the bank. I do not have plans to retire at this time - I've very young. Both of my parents are deceased and I have a brother, Larry, who lives in Benton, LA; two sisters, Iris and Christine, who live in Natchitoches; and another sister, June, who lives in Carrollton, TX. We try to visit about once a year, but it has been almost two years since I have seen most of my family. We were already making plans to have a family Thanksgiving when Dianne called. She said, 'This is Dianne Stubblefield Poole' and I said, 'Are we having a reunion?'"

2014 Update:  Things I have been doing for the last half century:

2014 Update: I have been married to Pete Peters (WHS ’62) for 47 years. We live north of Mansfield, LA and have one son, Cory. We lived in Sugarland, TX for nine years and Texaco transferred us to Tulsa, OK. Pete retired in 1999 and we moved to our piney-wood place in Louisiana. We enjoy traveling to the mountains specifically in Colorado, Montana and Wyoming. We have visited several of the National Parks and enjoy taking pictures of the wildlife. We attend the chuck wagon races in Clinton, AR every year. We camp with old friends and make new ones every year. We love to fish and camp whenever possible. We also enjoy going to the PRCA final in December in Las Vegas. My hobby is painting, I am a member of several painting chapters in Louisiana and Texas. My painting friends and I attend seminars yearly in Las Vegas, NV, Columbus, OH, Houston and Quitman, TX. We attend Open Range Cowboy Church in Greenwood, LA. If you have not visited our church and have a chance to do it, we meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays. It is located west of Greenwood on Highway 80. You will be blessed.

2014 Update:  After high school, went to Northeast LA State, then LSU; dropped out; went to Army, then Vietnam; got  married; went to law school; moved to Fort Worth; married and practiced law in Fort Worth for 38 years; divorced after 33 years; retired; remarried and have spent the last 3 years exiting from the practice of law, getting to know my new family and traveling.

New Family:  three children; six grandchildren - catching up on all that I've missed over the first 40 years; great plan; wish I had known earlier.

Life lessons:  By helping others to the best of your ability, you enrich yourself.

2019 Update:  Mary Kathryn, my wife, has 3 grown children including boy/girl twins who together have given us a total of 7 grandchildren (5 girls from 8-17 years old and 2 boys who are 3-1/2 and 5-1/2 years old). All are great kids.
I retired in 2011 as a lawyer and have enjoyed friends and travel since then including driving from Chicago to Santa Monica on Route 66--a great trip! Also went back to Viet Nam 2 years ago--it is quite different from the country I left in 1969. Cuba was a good trip, too, except it is quite poor.
All about the same--except 5 years older!

Gray Fox Tice, Karen (spouse Bill) - 101 Logsby Place #K, Milford, OH 45150; 318/470-4764;

2014 Update:  What have I been doing for the last 50 years?  The first 25 years were spent working at various jobs and raising children.  Then, the next 25 years were spent enjoying my grandchildren and working as a legal assistant to The Honorable Robert P. (Bobby) Waddell (a 1966 graduate of Woodlawn).  While I did enjoy working for "The Judge," I retired in 2011 and married a wonderful man, The Reverend William (Bill) F. Tice, Jr. and moved to Milford, Ohio. Since I retired and we married, we have been traveling all around the U.S. enjoying the beauty of this great nation of ours. After taking a year off from traveling to have double knee replacement surgery this year, we are planning to start traveling again - beginning with the trip to Shreveport for this great reunion. I am so excited about what the Reunion Planning Committee has done in the planning of this reunion.  This is only the second one (the 10th and the 50th) I have not been involved in and I miss not being at the planning meetings. They were almost the best part of the reunions. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again in October!

Children and grandchildren:  I have 5 children - 4 daughters and 1 son. I have 10 grandchildren, 4 girls and 5 boys.
