2014 Update: Life has been very good to me over the past fifty years. Through my husband’s career with a major oil company, we have had the opportunity to live in some incredibly beautiful locales in our great country. Florida, Oregon, California and Colorado were wonderful places to live, but it seemed that Houston was always the place for us to return to. My degree in education and library science from Louisiana Tech in 1968 gave me the wonderful opportunity to teach children from 3 year preschool to 3rd grade. My heart, however, was always in the library. I had the good fortune to serve as the librarian in several different elementary schools from California to Texas. My husband, Jim Patterson (Byrd ’62, La Tech ’67, ’68), and I retired in our mid-fifties and returned to Houston to live. We have enjoyed this time being closer to family and pursuing some of our favorite activities. Playing bridge, yoga lessons, and attending my weekly Bible Study Fellowship class keeps me busy and happy!

Grandchildren: Brenden (11) and Blake (9) are the sunshine of my life. They live in Sunnyvale, a suburb of Dallas, with our son and only child, Lance, and our terrific daughter-in-law, Stephanie.

Life lessons: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP! (Winston Churchill)

2018 Update:  Well we added a new great grandson a few years ago. He started kindergarten this year and is built like a hummer. Loves to fish and never runs out of energy. We have three grand kids in college and the last two are about to finish high school.

I was able to retire in late 2015 when I sold my company, SOS Environmental, after 20 years in business. It was time!! Heck, we are all as old as Jack Benny.  Still live on Lake Conroe in Willis, TX but may move to Crockett, TX in a year or so as we have some property there, and it is close to our youngest daughter. This year we enlarged the small lake on the Crockett property and restocked it with Florida bass. We are clearing a few acres and will be building a small house there either for us or the kids to retreat to.

I really enjoy reminiscing and visiting the Woodlawn website ever so often. The WHS site is GREAT. We all owe a special thanks to all those who built and maintain it. THANKS!!!
